Investigators who searched her phone history found that she had searched “how much bleach can kill an animal” and “poisoning pets, what you should know”, People reported. She also allegedly searched “how to clear search history”.

    Clearly wasn’t very successful xD

“poisoning pets, what you should know”,

It feels like she was looking for a book called “poisoning pets for dummies”

One time, we all got hauled out to someone’s farm, for ag class, to watch pigs get castrated. A student was handling all the procedures until they got to the the likely prize show pig another student owned. The teachers husband took over and preformed the procedure. That likely prize pig, and only that pig, died that day. Rumor had it, that he purposefully botched the procedure so his own kid could win.

Im just sitting here wondering why this is making the rounds, except for this girl got caught. This is the par for the course and happens more often than one would think.

The show world can get super competitive. If you end up with a prize animal, you can bring home a good amount of money from auction.

Not to mention, for some, its very personal due to the time invested. These kids can put sometimes up to a year, if not more, into raising an animal for a show. They feed them special and care for them in very serious ways, to make them look perfect for a show. It’s like beauty pagent moms, but with kid brains.

I feel like there is a line somewhere between sabotaging your competition to get ahead on this year competition and doing something to end the competition career of your adversaries.

imagine going to jail because you just couldn’t stand the thought of not having the “best goat,” whatever the fuck that means. and no, if you know what that means, don’t tell me–i refuse to have that information wasting space in my brain

Vanlandingham confessed to police that she deliberately poisoned the goat because she believed the animal’s owner was “a cheater”

How do you even cheat with a goat? The whole thing is ridiculous.

being in america, it’s apparent that there are a large number of people (especially in red states) for whom part of the strategy is to accuse everyone else of cheating, all the time, no matter what.

I’m not saying they’re all the same, but 100% of the Vanlandingham’s I have met in Texas have been rotten to the core. Real sociopaths. Smiling and friendly all while planting a knife in your back. And yes there’s more than one example in my weird little anecdote. They eat their own children! (figuratively)

just as absurd as all the other bullshit animal contests that judge “contestants” based on completely arbitrary physical characteristics which lead to severely inbred, sick, miserable animals

        people are so fucking stupid

To hazard a guess: simple farmers. These are people of the land. The common clay of the new West. You know… morons.

Hypothetically I agree, but it’s also hard to feel a lot of sympathy knowing that farmers tend to enthusiastically vote for the politicians who then undermine farmers.

Roughly 1/3 of Farmers are also subsidized by the US government, but -to your point- they’re also pretty easily swayed by dangling some social issue that gets them to vote against or for whatever- mostly as a result of being unable to divest themselves from the social and cognitive conditioning that comes from organized religion, which is still dense as bricks, in farm country.

the average american has essentially zero regard for the well-being of non-human animals, this is not surprising in the least.

They aren’t so good about the well-being of their fellow humans, either. Think of all the things other civilized countries have that we don’t because people don’t want to pay for anything that doesn’t benefit themselves and only themselves.

the internet is deluged by news stories so please be careful with what you read about this. reports from the victim (girl)'s mother indicate the alleged killer was 2 years older than, and not friends with, the victim. it sounds like rivalry to me.
