It absolutely is. The way it looks, we will be lucky if US won’t outright back Russia.

This is something that worries me.
I bet most Americans would go ‘Oh yeah Oceania and Eurasia has always been allies.’

A situation where Russia invades EU and US immediately after invades greenland, no longer looks so impossible to me

I think having our national armies more interconnected would be better than a federal army.

I simply fear the risk of having a federal army being abused at some point to intervene in internal / national affairs of an EU country is too high. Yes we’re living without mass civil unrest right now, but think about future possibilities. Imagine a country would experience a revolution or fall into a civil war. The federal army could be deployed and there’s no guarantee it will support the right side.

Here is my problem: EU gets invaded by Russia, vote is called to mobilize. Hungary says no.

No veto rights for single member states regarding the army would help.

I’m under the impression that the idea of an unified EU army is that they would be able to act independently in case of an attack, no need for votes or bureaucracy.

If that’s not the case, then yeah that’s a problem

maybe if we start with a “Territorial Defense Force” first, and they just have standing orders, it would work.
