The article completely drifts off. It doesn’t go into explaining the female gaze and why men have such a weirdly hard time wrapping their head around why women prefer different things than they do, but suddenly starts detailing how women are drilled into adjusting for the male gaze.
The comments are a riot too. Completely missing the point and claiming it’s the fault of the lightning in the right pic why women don’t like it. Spoiler alert: it’s not the lightning
I think the whole point was that a female gaze is just way less developed because they aren’t typically the ones observing but the ones being observed. At least that’s what I got from reading the article
I’d say it’s plenty developed, it’s a natural thing after all that everyone has automatically, but I assume it’s just less talked about because as those comments show some men will immediately accuse them of ‘being dishonest about their own taste’ (for what gain?) just because they don’t happen to like the same things that men do.
That’s actually something the article talks about. According to the article, assuming women have that “gaze” because men do is the core of the misunderstanding.
Well I can’t speak for every woman but I certainly do have something like it
Yep, it’s pretty weird to go from “women generally want different things” to pretending women don’t find some people visually attractive. They were trying to frame the male gaze as a symptom of the patriarchy but not doing a great job of it.
This actually is great advice for men whose fitness goal is getting laid, namely that women usually aren’t that interested in jacked up roid apes, unlike other dudes.
(Also all the dudes disagreeing are admitting they find the male body sexually attractive in at least some way but that’s just my sexuality spectrum pilled opinion)
I personally learned it years ago from shojos but the other advice those usually give is being pretty instead of handsome.

unless your goal is to fuck dudes, at which point you probably are gonna want to lift those weights.
Fair, but twinks aren’t exactly in low demand either.
Unless you’re gifted by god, I’ve got some bad news about what being a twink requires.
In the words of the great Britney, “You wanna hot body? You better work, bitch.”
