Maybe Elon realises that he bet on the wrong horse here. As the horse is super stupid.

it’s a sign that the protests and plummeting sales are starting to hit the wallet and sting his overinflated ego.

if the eu responded to the diaper’s bullshit and put tariffs on his cars making them more expensive at retail… tesla would be finished in europe.

Model Y is produced in Berlin, Model 3 comes from China. While Models S/X are produced in the US, they are not volume models and slapping tariffs on them would just inspire more buyers to pick the better-quality German/Chinese models. Soo… What you’re suggesting is picking a fight with China to make Model 3 more expensive?

The issue here was that they relocated their production (to Thailand) in order to circumvent tariffs. This wouldn’t apply to Model Y since it already is being produced here.

Is “circumvent” the right word to use here? Isn’t it the intended outcome of tariffs that imports shift out of tariffed countries?

That’s the intended outcome when your goal is to hurt a foreign market, but not when your goal is to strengthen your local market.

May not apply here, as the other commenter mentioned but that’s interesting and I didn’t know that.

Nah, he’s just trying to manipulate the market. As he always does… He knows that Trump will never agree to it.

This guy is pathetic. After making Nazi salutes, after supporting anti-EU parties, after excusing Hitler and Stalin by saying that the genocides caused by both were exclusively the fault of their public servants, after orchestrating the illegitimate usurpation of power by the DOGE, after cutting the American public sector, after working against workers rights, after working against education, after working against the democratic institutions, after saying and doing many other stupid and destructive things, Elon felt a little, perhaps for the first time in his life, a little of the consequences of his actions. Now he appears all cute and soft-spoken, trying to improve his tarnished image, trying to raise the value of his stocks. Pathetic, it’s even pitiful.

It’s not worth it Elon, your image is already too much damaged. If you were truly efficient and pragmatic as you want to pretend to be and not a crybaby, you would shut up and work to get a car that can compete with the prices and quality of the competition, but you prefer to play at being a tyrant and then go and cry to the media when people react badly to you.

You can’t even convince people that you’re a genius anymore after that controversy about pretending to be the best PoE2 player in the world. What kind of genius would pretend to be the best player in the world in a certain game by paying others for months to play for him, only to then accidentally expose his lie by live streaming a game he clearly doesn’t know how to play? Tragically pathetic.
