The driver … came to Germany in 2006. But he is not an Islamist … on the contrary: He was apparently a radical critic of Islam and sympathized with the AfD – and Elon Musk.

He is a raised Muslim who turned atheist from Saudi Arabia. Doing that carries the death penalty in there, so he fled to Germany. That is a pretty decent reason to hate Islam. So when AFD and other far right idiots like Musk claim Europe is taken over by Muslims, then somebody like that can absolutely loose his mind. It is also in line with wanting Israel to conquer as much land in the region as possible. He was heavily discriminated by a Islamic government, so wanting a guy like that preferring Israel over Muslim rule is logical.
He called for people to oppressed, discriminated and murdered. It seems he wanted everyone dead who he considered to not follow his will. If he wants freedom of religion for himself, he would have to grant it to everyone else too.
The only “logic” in there is egomania. And that is where these ideologies come together. They deem one group or person superior to others based on arbitrary categories.
Given how direct some of his statements were, including his calls for “revenge” on Germans and that he has been making these sort of statements for years, it is quite concerning that there was no earlier action by the police against him. We’ve seen these kind of “blind spots” with a lot of Nazi terrorism in Germany, like around the NSU terror cell and its vast network of supporters.
Logical is not the same as moral.
You’re confusing logical with consequential or traceable. Like, you can track his path to madness and see each step being a consequence of the environment he lived in, but that doesn’t make his decision logical. They’re still highly irrational.
