Hey, Abigail here. I just want people to know the reason this person got banned is likely because of a deleted comment not included in that thread. OP called me autistic mentally unwell for not liking politics. THAT kind of behavior is not acceptable on lemmy.blahaj.zone, so I reported the comment and let Ada handle it. Ada tried in good faith to reason with OP but it was clear they just wanted to fight. So yeah, they got banned. Ada’s a fantastic lady who’s been great at keeping the trolls at bay.
Edit: and the bit about me misgendering them is also wrong. Gender didn’t come into play until after I had left the conversation. English default on the internet is male for strangers.
…what? I think we are in two very different corners of the internet. I follow animal groups, hobbies, work related stuff, and art. None of that should have people screaming about politicians or voting or laws or anything related to politics. I can get all of that from informed sources like AP or Reuters, and when I’m done with the news for the day I’m done. My social media feeds have zero politics, which is why I didn’t like hexbear users - they were injecting politics into my non political spaces.
I’ll vote when I can and protest when I can, but I don’t want to doomscroll through a bunch of angry people when interacting with them has no personal or social benefit.
I’ve had two major issues with these guys. While not necessarily worth defederating everyone, I really don’t want to deal with hexbear because:
They’re more than welcome to behave like that in their home, but they can’t go to a public space and expect everyone to cater to their beliefs.
I recently moved to a new area and got a card in the mail telling me my polling place. On election day I showed up and found out three districts use that building.
So I asked the volunteer which district I was in. He asked for my address, then said, “I don’t know where that is”. K thx, buddy. Then he whipped out a 20 year outdated paper map and asked me to find my house. The street wasn’t even there! After finally stepping out of line (and some exasperated groans of relief behind me) I did 15 minutes of frantic googling to find my district. Then I had to go to the back of the line and wait again.
I was lucky I had the day off work for all that nonsense. Most people don’t have that luxury.
Not sure if this was intentional, but on mobile that text has no line breaks. Just one looooong line I gotta scroll sideways to read.
I love that he was labeled “SHONK” for most of it. Also kudos to the person/group that went around incorrectly labeling things.
Honestly you might be better off going to an electronics repair shop. If they can tell you the plug type and electrical specs, it doesn’t have to be the exact model as the original.
Actually, you’re right. You said I had ASPD, not ASD. Sorry about that.
