Just a shot in the dark but I thought it’s worth trying:
I bought this old Brother machine, but it came without a foot pedal. The machine has a power cable and another cable with a 2-pin flat prong female connector, which is where the pedal is supposed to go.
It looks very similar to this machine on EBay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/283520681227?_ul=IN
All the “universal” pedals I see online don’t have this kind of connector. Does anyone know where I can find a replacement, or even what type of pedal I’m looking for?
I’m only a beginner, and I don’t really know, but I wonder whether it’s worth contacting a sewing machine servicer / repair person to take a look at it (do you know whether the electrics are good and working?). The other thing is a sewing machine repair person may have spare parts for vintage machines? Do you have the sewing machine manual?
I don’t know the exact model number and also don’t have the manual, sadly.
The person I bought it from said it was serviced and working but the pedal was broken and they couldn’t find a replacement.
I’ll try finding a repair person, but I live in a small country so my hopes are low. Thanks for the idea though!
Honestly you might be better off going to an electronics repair shop. If they can tell you the plug type and electrical specs, it doesn’t have to be the exact model as the original.
Thanks for the tip! I actually ended up emailing every sewing machine repair shop in the country (there aren’t many) and struck gold with one. I now have a working machine!
UPDATE: thanks to everyone who helped! I managed to get a replacement pedal and it looks like it works!
My sister had a Brother.
Have you tried contacting Brother directly? They might be able to point you in the right direction anyway.
I have not - I’ll try doing that! The trouble is I don’t even know the model of the machine. Perhaps the picture will be enough for them.
