Right?? The bank already makes money off the money people put into the bank. Now the bank is saying that their unethical practice of stealing people’s money isn’t as profitable as they want so they are going to unethically steal from everyone a different way that they can’t stop or say no to?

I think it’s to send a message that many people feel disinterested in the olympics for whatever reason.
For me, I am disgusted that the the olympics have turned into a corporate money making machine. Hosting countries will pick a huge chunk of land to “terraform” into a games site, with little regard to the people who live there or nearby. They’ll displace residents, make people build the infrastructure for low wages and in poor conditions. They’ll spend billions to try and make snow where snow doesn’t naturally occur. The ecological impact alone is massive. There’s also the issue of the housing for the Olympians being substandard and dangerous. I’m not claiming that this happens every time in every country, but it’s certainly a problem and I don’t want to be part of it.
There’s also the issue of banning trans athletes from competing, which continues to be rooted in ignorance and hypocritical disagreements around what we define as fair. (Bring on the downvotes, I don’t care.)
I debated posting this at all because it’s off topic, but the question was asked so I gave my perspective.
These companies are scraping the internet to train their models. Scraping the internet isn’t bad; we scrape the internet constantly for all kinds of data. The free and open exchange of knowledge is what the internet is for. IMO you can’t steal text, audio, or video that someone already put up on the internet to be looked at or listened to. It can be pirated or it can be scraped.

Yep. Google treats their service like television, but it’s not television. We all watch the videos on computers and computers are owned by users and each user gets to decide what their computer does, full stop.
The ad model for youtube will always be circumvented by the fact that our computers can run whatever code we want it to (despite Microsoft’s and Apple’s efforts). If that means that youtube goes subscription only, so be it. If that means youtube can’t sustain itself as a business with ad revenue, then so be it. It would mean that decentralized alternatives gain popularity and it would most likely be to the benefit of everyone who isn’t a corporation.
Youtube has a stranglehold on creativity, open speech, and fair use. Youtube will demonetize a video for saying too many swear words. They’ll demonetize or restrict a video for talking about non-sexual lgbt content. They’ll take down legal and legitimate videos for copyright infringement even though it’s fair use.
Youtube is bad for creators and it’s bad for users.
Is stealing the right word to use? Or would it be more accurate to say ‘scraping’ or ‘unauthorized use’?

I dunno. I think every list like this ends up helping to normalize hate and bigotry. That said, if I made one of these with a list of Christian games to avoid, it doesn’t mean I hate Christians, it just means that I am looking to avoid games with Christianity in them.
The difference here is that “woke” is a loaded and weaponized term. It’s like having a list of “groomer” games and then filling that list with games featuring LGBT+ characters. It’s based in bigotry.
I find their selective use of quotation marks quite offensive.

When the tape drive fails and eats your tape in the process, you better hope you have a second backup or you’ll be crying salty salty tears.
I worked in the service center for a tape-drive manufacturer and I would routinely see the drives we got back for repair. They were often taken apart by the customer in a frantic and desperate attempt to get their cassette out. The cassette was almost always still in there though, with multiple feet of tape snagged and wound around everything.
Oh absolutely it can be. I think most people shooting at a drone aren’t intending to hurt anyone, and the possibility of anyone being seriously hurt is largely dependent on how populated the area is if the drone crashes.
Shooting at an occupied aircraft though? The likelihood that someone could be killed goes way up, right? The intent has probably also changed: for a drone it’s property destruction, for occupied aircraft it’s most likely murder.
Some people believe that intent doesn’t matter and that it’s the results of the crime that matter. I don’t subscribe to that reasoning because then the sentencing of a crime focuses on punishment instead of rehabilitation, and I think intent should have influence on if and how we rehabilitate people, but that’s getting into a whole different discussion.
