Yeah, of course the car needs to be cheap if it has a low range. We paid about 20k for the golf when we bought it in '20, which was a great deal then and would still be a great deal today. At least here in Europe, this “small and low range but cheap” is, while not common, available. The Dacia Spring is awesome for its price (offers similar range as our golf at around 14k) and you might find good deals for a Twingo, Up, C3 or similar, for little more than 20k as well.
So… Yeah. Sucks if there’s nothing like that available. Guess manufacturers must look at American incomes and just be like “nah, the average American should be able to afford our expensive ones, so fuck the others” or something. Dunno.
