“The war has to end in a manner that there is accountability – not only economic recovery and justice, but also accountability,” says EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell.

He also suggested that $300 billion of Russian state assets frozen in the West could eventually be used to help Ukraine rebuild after the war.

“That could be used in order to pay for the accountability and for the compensation for the people who suffer it and for the destruction that has been produced by the Russian invasion,” Borrell said.

Russian President Vladimir Putin faces an arrest warrant from the International Criminal Court and some of Moscow’s lower-ranking troops have been tried in absentia in Ukraine for individual incidents.

Ukraine has made prosecuting Russia’s crimes a key part of its proposal for any eventual peace agreement.

The US doesn’t recognize the ICC, so it wouldn’t matter anyway. Netanyahu addressed Congress less than six months ago.

No one talks about Ukraine losing. Any peace deal can only be reached according to Ukraine’s terms, this includes that Russia will have to leave the whole of Ukraine.

LMAO, I sincerely wish that happens, but the EU is not taking the war seriously. Putin waggles with his thumb into a camera spouting something about nuclear weapons and EU leaders tuck their tails in-between their legs. “Yes Mr. Putin, Western weapons shall not be used against you on your soil. We fear your wrath”.

Ukraine would never have had to enter the war had every EU country east of Poland understood the threat that Russia posed. Ukraine would never have had to fight so long had the EU given them more weapons and ammunition. Ukraine could’ve possibly ended the war months back had they been given the weapons and right to strike in Russian territory.

Ukraine has to survive this winter, then survive Trump, then survive the EU’s (again) belated response to Trump. A lot more is going to happen in 2025 and I can only hope the EU members really acknowledge the Russian threat instead of treating Ukraine as some kind of disposable child. Ukraine has to be put in a position to make a favorable peace deal, which they aren’t at the moment.
