I rarely replay games once I finish them, but a few left me an itch to replay them with this mode : Dishonored 2, and Styx: Shards of Darkness
Some that come into my mind:
Sekiro Devil May Cry 1 & 3 Wonderful 101 Armored Core 6
I think these games are better on the subsequent playthroughs. Sekiro also has that itch no other game is able to scratch.
We’re on the same boat here, I’m a notorious “have to explore everything” player so often NG+ is boring but a few games still hooked. God of War from 2018 was a fun one. Also Witcher 3 and the best of all was Nier Automata but I have to admit, Nier Automata isn’t really a new game plus in this manner
Your notoriety precedes you, Tolstoy
- Horizon Zero Dawn
- Ghost of Tsushima
- Sundered
- Ori and the Blind Forest
- Ori and the Will o the Wisp
- Prototype and Prototype 2
- Crackdown
I miss Crackdown. I wish 3 wasn’t stuck in development hell for a few years and then released with nothing that was originally advertised for it.
Ratchet & Clank, Rogue Legacy, inFamous 2, The Last of Us
Hey! Rogue Legacy is cheating. You have to play new game +5 at least to say you best the game.
Chrono Trigger
Including the earliest possible opportunity to get to the end boss?
Elden ring. Got to NG+7 before it became miserable and I had to stop.
Hello,
Maybe consider crossposting to !patientgamers@sh.itjust.works ? You’ll probably get a lot of answers there too
Chrono Trigger
A lot of Ys games. Certain Metal Gear games in a way have NG+ with carryover stuff.
More games need a solid NG+ that feels fun and rewarding.
I don’t know if Ys Origin counts, but I really liked how each character had a unique twist on the same events.
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey- though I don’t think I finished it. But definitely had fun playing around with builds. Dark Souls, same thing. Generally it feels weird to start a game loaded with kit so I’m more likely to just do another playthrough.
Sekiro and Hi-Fi Rush
Quite a few. I’ve never finished a Fromsoft game, but I did finish Hellpoint which is another soulslike. When I was a kid I replayed Jak 3 so many times I lost count. Recently I played through Spider-Man 2018 and Miles Morales and then immediately went and did NG+ on both of those because they’re so fun. I’m excited for Spider-Man 2 to come out on PC.
Is there a major difference between the newer Spiderman games, mechanically, or are they just longer stories/campaigns in some? (and by “newer” I mean since 2018, the last one I played was on the PS2 I think 😅)
Persona 5-It allowed me to do a much quicker play through without all of the grinding. Starfield-There were a bunch of new dialog options that were aware of you already playing through before, new gear and ship and ways to do things differently exclusively for new game plus. I hope other games start doing this.
Dark Souls.
You need to play NG+ and a fair bit of NG++ to be able to get everything on one character.
darksouls2 might have been the weakest entry in the souls series, but its ng+ / ascendic mechanics are awesome.
i heard sekiro ng+ is also awesome because the powerup comes less from gear and mostly from how much you improved since beating the game.
so you breeze trough most of the game entirely on your skill.
