Meta has faced a setback in its plan to build data centers run on nuclear power. The FT reports that CEO Mark Zuckerberg told staff last week that the land it was planning to build a new data center on was discovered to be the home of a rare bee species, which would have complicated the building process.
BEES!
THEY’RE IN MY EYES!!
Beads?
Not beads, BEES! RUN!
This project is full of bugs!
The bees come before his vanity projects.
Even if AI turns out to be a hype cycle, getting a lot of clean energy could make it worth the hassle.
It won’t.
Want to get to clean energy? Get a government with the guts to tell oil companies and car companies to get fucked.
And while they’re at it they can tell the purveyors of Grand Theft Autocorrect to get fucked as well.
@ZDL same line bros used to greenwash crypto
Yep.
Better greenwashing: actually do green things.
@ZDL for some reason they think that’s too hard
It’s the usual business mindset.
Businesses never have the budget to, say, maintain their fleet of cars properly. But they have ten times the money to replace cars that broke down.
I hope that after the bubble bursts the nuclear reactors can be used to put energy on the grid and maybe they’ll find something worthwhile to do with all those compute GPUs.
There’s GOTTA be a way to combine liquid cooling of server racks and radiators for home heating
We use electricity to cool down one thing while we use electricity to heat up a different thing. Makes no sense.
@FlyingSquid Long live the bees!
Food or Zuck? Which do you love more?
