With the Broncos ahead by 21 points in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game against the Panthers, Broncos head coach Sean Payton called a fake field goal and had wide receiver Courtland Sutton throw a pass to fullback Michael Burton to convert another fourth down.
Honestly, it’s not about running up the score… why waste a trick play when you’re up by 21? You pull that shit out in close games. Now everyone knows what you practiced and you can’t really run it again
Or, he never intends to run it again but he thinks opponents will spend practice time learning how to defend it
I think Detroit has blown up that myth.
