My venerable Logitech Mouse a is nearing the end of it’s life and I’m thinking about a replacement. Since I have no plans to switch my Gaming PC to Windows 11 I would like to have a mouse (and eventually a keyboard) that properly supports Linux.
I looked at the sites for Corsair, Logitech and Razer and the corresponding software is available for Windows (and sometimes MacOS for some reason) but no Linux Version.
Since I actually use some of the fancy Gaming-Gear functionality like setting up macros and variable DPI I’d like to use the software that is used to set these things up.
How do you guys deal with this?
Is there a manufacturer that offers their software for Linux?
Do these things run properly under Wine?
Speaking of losing things, since you’re a fellow Bazzite user, why does my computer keep losing the damn signal to my Xbox controller? I’ll be in the middle of playing and it will just stop working as if it disconnected. The light is still on and it’s showing it’s connected, but it just stops working until I turn it off and on again. I’m also having issues with a Bluetooth speaker that acts like the BT signal isn’t strong enough unless it’s in the same room. Never had either problem before on any other distro.
I use a cheap BT USB dongle for a controller, Fairbuds XL and a soundbar and never had issues. Range isn’t great for the headset, but everythings else works as intended. Maybe just try another BT stick, they are very cheap.
I don’t have a dongle or stick, I just use the built-in bt hardware it came with (it’s a laptop). It is getting old, as is the speaker, and maybe the bt hardware is dying in one or both, but I don’t know how to check it or the signal strength to try and figure out where the problem lies. Never had any issues before until the other day when I tried to take the speaker upstairs with me (it’s small amd portable) and no sound would come out of it, but it wouldn’t lose connection. Took it back down and it worked fine.
As for the controller, it worked ootb on Windows (of course), and worked on all the Linux distros I’ve tried using xpadneo (Bazzite comes with it), aside from the random stopping working. It does the same thing with my wife’s controller, so it’s not the controller. Both have up-to-date firmware and are only a few months old. It could be a Steam issue, but I have it set to never turn off on idle. It’s just frustrating to be kicking a boss’s ass only to die because the controller stopped working. The only thing I can think of at this point is either solar storms (I think we’re getting some right now?) or one of the neighbors is using something that interferes with the signal, but I have no idea how to check for such things.
