Get checked for allergies at a specialist clinic or ask for a referal to other specialists based on your perceived symptoms.

A lot of illnesses get underdiagnosed because they are overlooked by non-specialists.

Had a Gastritis which was so bad, the thought of food made me nauseous. Went to a specialist who then explained in length that it’s either something in my uterus or my head, no further examination needed. He then send my back to my regular doc with the diagnosis “eating disorder”. Only after a few months I had an appointment with another doctor who DID an examination and found ulcers along with their cause: Gastritis

Sadly this was the start for a lot of other digestive issues but it’s slowly getting better now.

Having a vagina and PTSD is a horrible combination for these kind of problems…

Yeah, in general healthcare is worse for women as doctors still study with textbooks written about men by men for men.

Being female and needing health is miserable.

Recently I was shocked to go to my doctor, tell her I was covered in hives (gone by the time I had an appointment but hey soonest I could get), told her I expected it was probably anxiety and she was like “no extremely unlikely” so that was nice.

Different doctors have recently told me to lose weight and go to talk therapy. Both good advice in the long run, but neither are of immediate help or related to current symptoms.

I think it stems from going to the ER and the doctor writing down that I’m anxious. Of course I’m anxious, I’m in the ER and feel like shit. Now that’s on my chart and I feel like every doctor is judging me off that.

Bitches can’t even man up and admit they don’t know what the issue is.

It would be so reassuring, even as it was distressing. At least you’d know you have an honest doctor and you’d know you didn’t know what the issue was.

Needless to deprive people already going through so much of that simple thing.
