In response to the unprecedented number of journalists killed and other repeated press freedom violations by the Israeli authorities since the start of the war with Hamas, Reporters Without Borders (RSF) and 59 other organisations are calling on the European Union to suspend its Association Agreement with Israel and to adopt targeted sanctions against those responsible.
I wish them luck. The EU is much more likely than anyone else outside the Muslim world to hold Israel accountable for war crimes.
Not at all. Sanctions a unanimous decision from all EU members. A number of EU members are pro Israel. In the October ceasefire vote Austria, Croatia, Czechia and Hungary voted against a ceasefire and many more abstained including Germany, Italy and Poland. So very unlikely that anything actually strong is going to come from the EU.
Oh, I don’t actually think it’s objectively likely that they’ll take action against Israel. I just think it’s more likely than expecting action from the US or UK
