They’re all references to the TV show (which started as a movie) - M.A.S.H. Which was about a military camp in the Korean war (where they’d look after wounded soldiers and what not).
It was a comedy/drama show, quite dark sometimes (the theme song is literally titled “suicide is painless”).
…well anyways, there was one corporal named Klinger who was trying to get out of having to serve by habitually dressing like a woman, so that he’d be declared mentally ill and not fit for service, but it just never worked.
Anyways, in terms of the comic, there was basically lots of reasons such a show would earn points with a Television censor.
I think that’s about as clear as I can make it without you watching the show.
