Hi girlss! 💖 I am looking for a new curl iron and there are soooo many options. I. AM. SO. LOST. 😭 Some are super expensive and some super cheap. I don’t want to pay too much but also I don’t want to cheap out

I was wondering if you have any recommendations ! What do you use and would you recommend it? Do you use any heat protection ? If so what? 😇 If you have any other suggestions for curling your hair I am all ears !

I appreciate any suggestion :)

What kind of hair do you have?

Mine won’t hold a curl no matter what I use so I’ve given up. I’ve tried them all and unless I fry my hair and use a ton of product (i.e. for a special event) then it will fall flat and just have this awkward flip at the end. Like, not a cute wave or curl under, but like a dated flip out.

Which is to say, I’m commenting so I can come back and find advice too 😂

For the record, I have fine, pin-straight hair that isn’t treated. Perfect for that limp, drowned-rat-in-the-summer look 💀

In case you are interested in this topic: This likely has nothing to do with fine or very straight hair but with the porosity of your hair.
I have very low-porosity wavy hair and the only shape it keeps is the one it has. Actual curls? No. Straight? Also a no. I also have a hard time dyeing my hair at home and many products just sit on the hair without getting absorbed.
Low-porosity hair means the “scales” of the hair lie very flat. To do anything to your hair you have to lift them with either a lot of heat or chemicals. For example my hair loves hot steam. It’s the only way I get it to absorb any moisture or conditioner.
Does your hair take very long to get wet? Does it float when you put it in water for a while instead of sinking? Then you probably have low-porosity hair. (There are more tests but I’d have to google them)

Hey me!! I paid for professional curls 18 months ago for a night out, within a couple of hours they’d gone flat. Not worth the money although they looked great!

I have mostly straight hair (it tends to curl at the very end). That awkward flip is my default hair right now 😭😂
