You can get edible gold sheets for around 10 bucks. Goes to show how much those restaurant selling gold covered steak for thousands of dollars are a rip-off.

Seeing gold sheet on food is an immediate red flag for me. Pretentious and useless, it’s a strong sign a restaurant is trying to sell mediocre food at an inflated price. Other red flags are truffle and foie gras, although those can legitimately taste delicious, if you see the triple combo gold, truffle, foie gras there is a 95% chance it’s horseshit.

Foie gras makes me sad. It’s usually cruel, produced by force-feeding animals. There are ways to make it humanely but they are rarely carried out.

But damn is it good. I don’t eat it anymore, but I have had it a couple of times and loved it.

Lol as opposed to… Any other type of meat? I don’t think any meat where they are raised to be shot in the head in an assembly line is “cruelty free” I used to work for a fairly well known dairy company. Guess what happens to baby boy cows.

You just happen to be aware of foi gras and how they are raised/slaughtered.

The world isn’t black and white, there are spectra. I’m not saying meat isn’t cruel, just that some forms of meat are more cruel than others.

FWIW, I’m neither vegan nor vegetarian, but I have made an effort to reduce my meat consumption.

Typically they don’t shoot animals in the head. Unless you are a dickhead who isn’t using the animals for meat.

It’s a waste to kill the baby male cows for no reason. You can slaughter for veal

Larger animals such as cows will probably be killed by a bolt gun or captive bolt, which is basically a piece of metal shooting into your brain and instantly killing you

Animals must be rendered surgically insensible before slaughter per USDA requirements

Other animals are rendered surgically through other mechanisms, including Electrical stunning, (note: the animal muscles may twitch due to electrical activity, so this “looks bad”) gas, and other mechanisms.

I highly recommend people look into Temple Grandin. She has several YouTube videos that highlight her work and some misconceptions.

Look man, I worked at a very large dairy farm. Don’t send me you tube links, I saw how it went down. Don’t kid yourself, there isn’t a cruelty free way to slaughter creatures.
