Still too much in Australia. Sorry, want to support the work like on Sync for Reddit. But this app doesn’t even have functionality to post yet and is $25 to remove ads. It just doesn’t feel right considering it’s the fediverse and there are no ads at the source.
I know you need to make a living. So you do what you need to.
No. Different service because they’re a completely different offering.
A fairer comparison would be the cost of Sync to other Lemmy apps.
Not what I said at all. Just pointing out they’re are completely different services.
How much does Sync pay to host all the content for users to browse? How much does Sync pay content creators for that content? How much does Sync spend on creating content for the platform?
Don’t get me wrong, I think devs should get paid for their work. If you’re happy to pay what’s being asked and see value in it, that’s great. But your comparison isn’t accurate.
Two very different things.
The Calculating Stars by Mary Robinette Kowal
I usually try push through to the end with most books, but I couldn’t do it for this one.
Even after it won the Hugo I was never tempted to go back to it. Found it to be so formulaic. I read just past halfway and it felt like a novelisation of a daytime movie.
Yeah I noticed it had been changed. My feedback is that it’s still too high. Sorry. The app is still in beta and missing major functionality. I think you may also need to look at some competitors as I haven’t seen any priced like Sync and some are actually pretty damn good. I’m really enjoying Voyager for example.
I totally understand you need to make a living, but this isn’t Reddit. And I’d rather put some of my money towards supporting the instances I use, rather than just in the app I use to access them.
I’m sure you’re gonna do fine. You’ve got a great app and plenty of support. Just wanted to provide some honest feedback.
