Finde ich großartig. Ich habe seit Einführung des Deutschlandtickets Angst, dass es eines Tages wieder abgeschafft werden könnte, aber flächendeckend kostenloser ÖPNV ist ein mögliches Szenario des Endes des Deutschlandtickets, dsa ich sogar begrüßen würde!

“Am Ende des Tages …”, würg. Es gibt da so ein paar Kandidaten in meiner Arbeit, die das sowohl auf Deutsch als auf Englisch ständig verwenden. Ich kann’s verzeihen, aber einfach ein bisschen mehr Abwechslung wäre toll. Alternativen sind zum Beispiel “letztlich …”, “letztenendes …”, “.alles in allem …”, “ultimately …”, “when all is said and done …”

I don’t have this exact same kind of anxiety as you, but I often feel strong social anxiety while outside. This happens in spaces where I cannot blend in easily and where I am kind of forced to come into contact with strangers, e. g. when there is just me and another person on a road at night walking towards each other, and on the other hand also in spaces that are so crowded that you cannot avoid each other, e. g. on the subway or in a supermarket after work.

What helps me is a growing acceptance of the fact that I will be afraid, that feelings of embarrassment and being out-of-place will come or that I might even intimidate others because I’m kind of big and can sometimes make a grim looking impression.

The other helpful behavior, also related to the above, is that I’ve grown more comfortable with being a little more passive in such situations. Instead of pressuring myself to face those fears and conquer them by doing something extraverted in such a situation, I feel comfortable just keep to myself and calmly swipe on my phone on the subway, or walk by the other person staring straight ahead on the street at night. Previously I was afraid others would see right through my ruse I did that and would notice I’m clearly afraid, but I care less now.

Also I try to focus on the successes, however small. When I made it through a situation without any of my fears being realized I shortly take mental note of that, and sometimes reflect on it at the end of the day.

There are more and more days without anxiety, so I’m pretty confident it will become a minor problem with time and I can move my focus onto other aspects of life.

Hab mir tatsächlich auch erst vor kurzem einen gekauft. Klein und günstig, heißt Honeywell HT-900E und lässt sich super auf dem Boden aufstellen, so dass er dann die kühlere Luft in Bodennähe zu mir hochbläst. Das bringt so viel, ich habe sogar gestern bei 32 Grad zeitweise Gänsehaut bekommen. Das Problem gegenüber Klimaanlage ist nur, wenn man den Ventilator ausschaltet, dann ist es sofort wieder heiß.

Unklar, ob bis 2030 die Sanierungen begonnen oder abgeschlossen sein werden (sollen).

Ich hab die Erfahrung gemacht, dass meine Tonpflanztöpfe für Zimmerpflanzen ein paar Stunden nach dem Gießen außen dunkel und feucht werden, überall unterhalb der “Feuchtigkeitshöhe” sozusagen. Die Töpfe sind vielleicht 7mm dick, und eher glatt als porös.

Kann mir also gut ausstellen, dass die Wasserdurchlässigkeit eine allgemeine Eigenschaft von Pflanztopfton ist.

I’m currently in the honeymoon phase with Innovation, a small but wild and cut-throat, kind of abstract civilization style card game originally released in 2010. I played it twice with my girlfriend now and she won both times, but losing is also fun here, simply because so much chaotic stuff will happen. It seems that so many different strategies are possible that no two games will feel similar.

I heard that some people dislike it for the chaos it contains, but I hope I can get some people from my usual gaming group interested so that I can play more often.
