The original is great, it takes simple Chiptunes and manages to convey a stunning range of emotion and movement.
This cover is fantastic because it takes what’s at the core of the original and explores it even more, with varying loudness, instruments, ect.
It feels like the last warm august evening before going back to school.
It sounds like moving to a far away place in the search of opportunities.
It conveys the nostalgia of remembering your childhood friends with happiness, but also realizing that there’s a great and unknown road ahead of you.
It gives you the comfort of knowing that every moment will pass, so you should enjoy it while it lasts and be hopeful for the future.
It’s change, it’s movement, it’s nostalgia, it’s hope, it’s happiness, it’s a bitter sweet end and a fresh beginning.
This cover gave me a lot of comfort and peace during difficult moments in my life and I can say with confidence that it far surpassed the original.

jBoi@szmer.infoto Technology@beehaw.org•The inarguable case for banning social media for teens4·4 days agoI would draw the line at having an algorithmic content feed as the primary way of interaction. TikTok, Instagram, Facebook (mostly), YouTube, Twitter, Reddit would be out or would have to drastically change their content discovery system. By algorithmic I mean - one that adapts to the user’s personal viewing habits.
I’d classify stuff like IRC and web forums as communicators, in the same basket as WhatsApp, email, sms, and perhaps Discord. I agree that they have, in general, valuable social interactions. They also don’t have the same effect as algorithmic platforms where you can be scrolling for 2 hours and not remember a single thing you read, or where you’re served content tailored to keep you engaged.
I’m sure there are some valuable platforms that would get hurt by this distinction, but imo it’s a good first guideline.
jBoi@szmer.infoto Technology@beehaw.org•The inarguable case for banning social media for teens4·4 days agoAre you genuinely comparing social media to social interactions? Twitter for example is like a parody of what social interactions are, and I think this article is talking about things like Twitter, TikTok, Instagram, and other algorithmic platforms that give the user an anonymous feed of slop. I can’t imagine this is advocating for a ban on platforms like fb messenger, WhatsApp, ect. that aren’t nearly as invasive and generally do serve a good social function.
The case isn’t clear for platforms like reddit and Lemmy imo, on one side they do have a slop feed effect, but they also feel a lot less aggressive to me for some reason.
jBoi@szmer.infoto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What popular TV show did not do it for you and you quit watching?51·7 days agoMost of the adult animated shows (Rick and Morty, inside job, ect.) they’re like a 15 year olds idea of what adults are.
I agree that skipping content is the way to go, Lemmy is federated and all that, but I don’t think it works with a post like this.
This post somehow got 1.2k likes but there’s no real discussion in the comments (mainly about the author like we are discussing right now) and it doesn’t contribute anything of value to the site. It’s a post that most people probably scroll past without giving it any thought, like, and immediately forget - the worst type of social media content for which I don’t see a reason to exist here.
I like Lemmy because it has a kind of “people using a website” feel instead of a “generic content slop feed” vibe like reddit, tiktok, ect. I think Lemmy, as a community, should encourage high quality OC content on the platform instead of accepting generic and forgettable posts like this and just saying “ignore it”.
Can we please not bring pizza cake comics over from reddit? They’re so mid they aren’t even funny. Strawman comics that show off the author’s frustrations.

Fedora because it just works and I don’t have to mess with it.

Bardzo mi się podoba takie podejście. Ktoś ma w życiu prosty cel (utrzymanie siebie i bliskich) i wykorzystuje pracę jako narzędzie, a nie jako cel i wartość samą w sobie.

Eeh, idk. I’ve first installed kubuntu 20.04, then used it all the way up to 24.04, updating each version. I tinkered with it, added ppas, ect. and each update new random issues started piling up. I switched to fedora when the update to 24.04 completely broke my system, I don’t recommend kubuntu.

In that case I agree, it would be better to have one good integrated product, than multiple niche ones.

Yes, you’re right. I think I misunderstood the question. We call the pancakes in the post “Naleśniki”. American style pancakes would be “Pankejki” or “Naleśniki Amerykańskie”. Now I wonder - do Americans have a word for Naleśniki-style pancakes?
