I only mention network size because it was the easiest metric to pull up. But the point is whatever metric you use outside of passenger service the US is in the top three countries which is something not possible unless you have a functioning railroad system.

It might seem like the United States doesn’t know how to run trains but in reality we have one of the best freight networks out there.

I’d also like to add that on the passenger side of things the US is really trying to improve but the investments haven’t had time to come to fruition yet. Amtrak has 768 siemens venture cars and 175 ALC-42 locomotives on order so it can expand to 39 new routes [4]. There’s been a significant amount of funding into high speed rails for other corridors outside of the northeast corridor [5].

That is incorrect… If you actually read the law you are trying to reference you will learn it’s a prohibition on flying over “open-air assemblies of people” and if you read the final rule report (found on the very bottom of the page you linked under resources) on page 128 & 129 you will see how the FAA classifies “open-air assemblies of people”.

The FAA received a few comments addressing the proposal to prohibit Category 3 operations over open-air assemblies of people. One commenter recommended the FAA clarify what it means by an “assembly of people” and provide a quantity or density of people that constitute a significant risk. The FAA has declined to define this term by regulation; rather, the FAA employs a case-by-case approach in determining how to apply the term “open-air assembly.”58 Whether an operational area is an open-air assembly is evaluated by considering the density of people who are not directly participating in the operation of the small unmanned aircraft and the size of the operational area. While the FAA refused to strictly give a definition, what was provided is enough to construed that private property does not constitute an “open-air assemblies of people”.

I’m not sure for the EU but in the USA the airspace above your private property is public domain and since drones are classified as aircraft they are entitled do fly over your property just as an airplane or helicopter might. When a drone is being used to record and surveillance it depends on local jurisdiction.

You will get leagues better picture quality using a camlink/capture card and a camera with clean HDMI out. A gopro is a good budget option but a used DLSR or mirrorless camera is going to be the best. Some DSLR and mirrorless cameras support video out over usb so you don’t even need a capture card. Here’s a guide on getting it to work on Linux with a camera capability list inside the guide. If you do want to go the capture card route I hear elgato’s camlink works in Linux.

Defense contracts include the costs of R&D which is why they are so lucrative for a business to take. By testing nuclear weapons those companies holding the contracts can bill us the taxpayers for their tests. I think the safe option would be to use a smart UPS and Network UPS Tools to shutdown the LLM virtual machine when it’s running on battery. I do something similar with my NAS as it’s running on an older dell R510 so when the UPS goes onto battery it’ll safely shut down that whole machine to extend how long my networking gear will stay powered.

Since you didn’t explain why… Using a normal power bank as an UPS is a bad idea because lithium batteries have a limited amount cycles it can charge and discharge. With a power bank the power has to flow from the charger into the battery then out to the load which eats up those cycles. An UPS is a little more clever as the power goes straight to the load via a capacitor bank and a mosfet bypassing the battery. When the source power is cut the UPS runs off of the capacitors for the milliseconds it takes for the mosfet to switch the load over to the battery. This vastly extends the life of the battery and reduces the risks of fire and toxic fumes from being released.

The tenth circuit of appeals came up with this test to determine if the employers restriction constitutes on call hours as hours worked.

Where the employee is not required to remain on the employer’s premises, the critical inquiry is whether the employee is able to use the time effectively for his or her own purposes. She was not able to make or attend doctors’ appointments for herself or her children, do her weekly shopping, nor go on field trips with her children. I posted this in another thread but there are some applications where this display technology is actually needed. For example with VR/AR having a 1000Hz display would mean each frame is only displayed for 1ms. Being that quick would mean the headset would be able to better display the micro movements your head and body makes which inturn reduces the disconnect and motion sickness people get with VR/AR.

The avarage user doesn’t need all the buttons accessible at every moment as such are willing to trade convenience for space saving and cost reduction. Belive it or not just like click switches, large keyboards still popup within the mech keyboard community. Hyper 7 being the most well known (and has a group buy currently going) but there’s also the wombat 200% which features twenty rotary encoders. Some people have been getting the best of both worlds by utilizing a modular mindset. A 75% keyboard with an external numpad and macro pad has the same functionality as a battleship.

I know this is a joke but please do not buy repeaters they do not work how you would expect them to work.

Repeaters take an already weak signal and amplify that signal while increasing the latency. Sure this makes the signal go farther but it doesn’t increase the bandwidth and if you stand in between the originating wifi source and the repeater your device may not migrate to the source wifi even though it might be faster because the reapeter has the illusion of being a better signal because it’s louder.

The better route to go is to use multiple wifi APs through out the building connected back to your router with ethernet.

You could also go with mesh access points but you have to do a lot of research and planning; The two key things to look out for is they mesh system must have a dedicated backhaul and you must place them where each node has an excellent signal to the next node. Since most backhauls run on 5Ghz and 6Ghz this means there shouldn’t be any walls between them.
