The fact that most of the times the stigma only clings to the person selling and not the person buying makes me think that this is actually a negligible part of the stigma.

Seriously though, I hate it when people throw in some praise completely unrelated to the thing we are talking about at the moment in an attempt to soften the criticism. It just seems really transparent and fake to me. Praise people for things when they are doing them, not as sugarcoating for your criticism. That just devalues the praise and your criticism. But maybe that’s just my stereotypical German directness.

Adding to what the other comments have already said: Don’t bring an unleashed dog on a cow pasture. You’d think that’s common sense, but apparently it’s a bit of a meme in Austria and Switzerland that every few months some German get’s trampled by cows because their totally friendly dog ran towards the cows and they felt threatened.

To add to this: Many people shrug this off saying they don’t have anything to hide. Even assuming that is true, they usually mean they don’t have anything to hide right now from their current authorities. Ask yourself the question: Is there absolutely no form of government/regime you might want to hide something from? Are you absolutely certain these authorities might not get access to your data? Doesn’t even have to be a possible future government in your own country, it could be in some other country you might want to visit. Or maybe some terrorist organisation who for some reason targets people like you. Is there really absolutely no one you would mind having access to all the data collected about you?
The thing is, the data isn’t going to be uncollected again. The way things are drifting the number of countries not in some way endangered by antidemocratic movements is constantly decreasing. Call me paranoid but I just don’t want to risk it.
Die meisten Menschen tun sich extrem schwer damit, große Zahlen richtig einzuschätzen. Eine Milliarde ist so fucking viel mehr als eine Millionen, aber man denkt bei einem Milliardär irgendwie nur “der ist halt noch ein bisschen reicher als ein Millionär”.
Ich finde diese Visualisierung dazu immer sehr interessant. Ist zwar fokussiert auf die USA und speziell Jeff Bezos, aber verdeutlicht ganz gut, dass eigentlich niemand so viel Leistung bringen kann, dass das eine gerechte Belohnung wäre.
Edit: Die zehn reichsten Deutschen (zwischen ~10 und ~40 Mrd. Dollar) haben zusammen aktuell immerhin ein Vermögen von über 200 Mrd. Dollar.
I don’t think I do know actually. But here’s an attempt at answering this question anyway:
We are usually very quick at relating sickness or even discomfort to the food we ate at the time or slightly before. This is a very valuable trait to avoid food that is unhealthy or even poisonous. But it’s only based on correlation, so it can turn us off food that is not actually causing the sickness but we just happened to eat at the time.
