Translation of developer utilities themselves is the final layer of hell. I’m not hearing anybody out about this kinda stuff - after microsoft decided to TRANSLATE THE EXCEPTION MESSAGES IN .NET WITH NO WAY TO BYPASS IT making them unclear, unusable and ungoogleable, I realized what a terrible idea it is to fragment developer knowledge by language.

It makes absolutely no difference if you think about it. It’s not like choices are made for you even if the universe is determindric. If the world is or isn’t deterministic it’s not like anything would meaningfully be different - things would still be unpredictable to us. In an indeterministic universe randomness would play a part in outcomes, but that’s worthless to us. This meme is about choices anyways, randomness or determinism doesn’t matter in the end.

Linux isn’t a patentable thing. It’s not one idea or even really a new one. I agree with your premise though. Patents, in nearly all cases, suck.
Honestly, the whole thing felt like a textbook example of a modern FOSS program (based on the website, the premise etc) that I was quite surprised when I found out it wasn’t open source. I think it’s unfortunate.
