I get that it’s probably a joke. But I would absolutely go out of my way to get small bills to buy basic grilled sandwiches from this person complete with, what I assume, is barely hospitable service.

I feel like that’s kind of a hipster thing? I don’t care for the label, but I can’t argue it sometimes fits.

I don’t worry too much about that when meeting new people. The thing I’m afraid of is misgendering people I’ve known for a very long time. I want very much to use the correct name and pronoun but the ones I’ve known them by for the past decade or whatever sometimes slip past the filter.

Edit: and since these are longstanding relationships, I’m more concerned with their feelings than I would be a stranger.

I had a similar thought. While I agree with the chorus that this is creepy AF and I in no way condone it, as a man who had to wade through these garbage dating apps to, fortunately, meet a long term partner I can attest to the profound sense of loneliness they cause. When I think back on it I can honestly see why some might consider this.

These apps suck, but in today’s world they aren’t always optional. My specific situation was living somewhere new at the beginning of the pandemic. It wasn’t really possible to meet people organically.

Homoginizing Linux would be destroying so much of what makes Linux special. And besides, as many have pointed out, that’s not the source of the problem anyway in that most people don’t care what OS is installed or even comprehend what an OS is.

I also don’t think Linux needs mass adoption. It’d be great if it did, but it being a tool for those who care about what tools they use is fine too.

I liked the guy for a minute when all I knew is that he was involved in EV’s and renewable energy and such. That sentiment died real quick though!

I agree with this take.

I like Star Wars fine. If they make something, I’ll probably watch it. But I don’t consider myself a fan. I don’t keep track of the lore and would be hard pressed to tell you the plot of anything I hadn’t seen recently. Which is a long way of saying I’m in the don’t have a strong opinion camp.
