Ah, thank you for the write up. I will actually do that because KDE something I know I will like and enjoy more than GNOME once I get past some of the weirdness. Mostly, I want to customize it in certain ways, and while GNOME surely is customizable, it is not as easy as KDE.
Yeah, rebasing feels like some scifi future tech and I am ready to play. It is like resleeving ala Altered Carbon.
Oh, I am on Fedora Silverblue with Gnome. If it is easy to switch, I think I will give KDE a try!
I like Gnome, and I definitely need to tweak some behavior I find annoying, but I feel I never gave KDE a proper chance because I seem to mess up the panel whenever I look at it wrong, and have no idea how to get back to default.
DEs get so wonky if you try to change them. I wish it was easier to compartmentalize an envirionment.
I am thinking of switching from Linux Mint to Fedora. I have always liked Fedora, but have been bitten by some BS like NVIDIA drivers not working and some programs only available as a .deb file (I know about alien… or do I?)

Right now I am using Tracktion Waveform, but I do not love it.
I am looking at Reaper, and I do like the workflow, but the way it loads plugins puts me off. Not horrible, I just need to do extra work to make it work.
That is what I am starting to realize. Every paid program that I used to desire is now subscription based.
Also, I am coming to terms with how truly powerful FOSS programs are. People seem to pay for the workflow, the user interface, more than the capabilities. At least I feel that way with DAWs. Ardour does everything. Vital makes every sound. I can be happy with that. I need to focus on making music.

I slightly regret not keeping a large CRT, but honestly those things are stupidly heavy and made of glass. I did score some small CRTs at flea markets awhile back, which is more than enough for the novelty.
