I agree with you, but I can’t recognize that I’m using a fallacy and then let it go undisclosed. I’m that kind of nerd… But yes, burn them out of the community with fire or empathy, whichever strategy works fastest.
If you called for help but no one came, how would you feel? Despite sad songs sung by cowboys, believe that not all roses have thorns. Dare to be stupid but don’t be an American Idiot.

Beastimus@slrpnk.netto Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Things are about to finally change!English2·4 days agoYeah, you’re dead on, and believe me, a lot of us know it, and I hope we do fix it. I’m doing as much as I can I guess, and I promise that there are a lot of other people doing what they can, even if its not publicized like the bad stuff. We’ll see if it matters in the end.
The president also pardoned a bunch of domestic terrorists, screwed over our farmers, and undermined our energy security and trade domination, not to mention replacing every federal job he could with incompetent buffoons. I hate that old white guy.
Beastimus@slrpnk.netto Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Things are about to finally change!English11·4 days agoI understand the sentiment (believe me, we agree more on the democrats than we disagree), but unless you’ve got some guns you’re gonna go shoot in DC that’s probably not gonna be how it happens.
Otherwise, we cannot get new parties (with legit political power on a federal level) without serious election reform, reform that will only happen from within the current party structure. So while we need new parties in the long run, we’ve got some work to do for which we are going to have to work with Democrats.
Beastimus@slrpnk.netto Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Things are about to finally change!English11·4 days agoHow do you propose they do that? Keep in mind that your proposal must not give up more power to Republicans.
In this case by cup it probably actually refers to a pint glass of water (two measuring cups), but in any case not an exact measurement, so it doesn’t make sense to give exact measurements. Its describing the vessels of transportation, not the amounts.
There’s nerd and then there’s Thanos grindset nerd. I do not acknowledge the latter as being a true subset of the former.
Edit: It was bothering me so I have to point out that I’m making a No True Scotsman Fallacy here. This does not change my statement.

Beastimus@slrpnk.netto Climate - truthful information about climate, related activism and politics.@slrpnk.net•A sustainable diet leaves room for two chicken breasts a week, study saysEnglish1·7 days agoNo, but the beef which enters a person’s body won’t be harmful to them (the person) at all.
I may be misunderstanding you. Are you talking about the harm caused in its production? As in pound for pound the harm caused by the production process? Because I would like to emphasize that I don’t think beef production is less harmful, the additional harm caused to the planet in industrial grade beef far outweighs the difference in animal welfare. It seems slightly weird to me to talk about the meat itself being harmful as it enters the person’s body when the harm is in the production.
I also don’t understand what you mean by separating “material” vs “psychological” conditions. If you’re talking about the psychological state the animals are in while they are alive, as far as I know, the statement stands, industrial cattle live slightly better lives (more space and such,) which results as far as I know, in a better psychological state*.
That’s not to say that beef is ok while chicken is not, if chicken is off the table for you, beef definitely should be as well.
*Though it is now occurring to me that comparing the psychological states of chickens and cows may not be an activity with a point.

Beastimus@slrpnk.netto Green Energy@slrpnk.net•We’ve unlocked a holy grail in clean energy. It’s only the beginning.English3·7 days agoI really don’t get Vox’s need to sensationalize everything. I hope the US battery storage capacity increases by what we need I guess. But a “holy grail in clean energy” is not tech we’ve had for years is increasingly ramping up capacity, “holy grail in clean energy” would be like the sudden commercial practicality of fusion for energy generation.
Batteries are good and cool, but like, why that headline?
Beastimus@slrpnk.netto Electric Vehicles@slrpnk.net•Study Shows Dramatic Drop In Pollution Following Switch To Electric TrainsEnglish1·7 days agoI agree, mass transit should only ever use diesel if its actively being established for the first time (for now still cheaper per bus/train, if you’re establishing a new grid, its critical to start with as many buses/trains as possible) and once its gotten established and is being used by a segment of the population it should be switched as quickly as possible.

Yes, we will. Or we’ll die. We won’t die. A lot of people will die, and it will be horrible. We won’t do enough and we won’t do it fast enough or soon enough. But we will do it.
