Try a couple of months on LCHF diet, that increased the taste of sugar to crazy levels for me.
But remember when you go LCHF you can’t do it halfway, it has to be 100% to work.
Don’t really think there is or will be treatment for damaged cells. I’m already used to never tasting sugar anymore. 😅
On the bright side, having no reason to consume sugar will have health benefits.

My condolences. I don’t think I’d be able to eat if I didn’t have taste.
Is sugar the only one that you taste?
I think I taste everything else but sugar. It’s just… Empty absolutely nothing. I still like sour, savory and such.
It’s not that I care eating sugar by itself but sweetness is as a flavor is mixed into many things and that part is just missing.
And it seems I answered to wrong message, oh well. 🤷
