These things need to go both ways. Many of these maintainers know how to say no. They know less or may have no experience in how to deal with the highly variable role of a maintainer. We’re asking them to be coders, engineers, volunteers, managers, mentors, QA, public relations, and marketing at the same time just for love of the game. Then folks get annoyed at them when they can’t fulfil all these functions for free on a few hours a week.
