I don’t have kids, but if I did I would be pretty strict about giving them healthy meals so they don’t end up eating like shit the way I do. If I can resist giving my dogs (which IMO are cuter than children) treats, I can certainly resist giving trash food to a human kid.
Other than the donut, it looks fine to me.
Apple sauce and milk for a meal? And TV going on in the background? The apple sauce is a snack, not a meal.
Make the kid some protein pancakes, pureed veggies, etc. I have three kids and a full-time job, and I do much better than that. It’s not hard to switch it up and get a good variety, especially at 1yo when a smoothie (easy to throw veggies in) is generally well liked.
Sometimes you need to be firm and let them miss a meal if they refuse the food offered, but usually there’s a way to get them to eat something reasonably healthy. This seems like the mother is frustrated and just wants the kid to eat something, but the kid doesn’t seem to be starving, so they can afford to be more strict.
