I wish there was a demo. It seems like something I would like but I have an allergy to roguelikes.

But I have ignored that allergy when given a very convincing reason to. I bought Hades for the story/dialogue and also enjoyed playing it.

Guess it’ll be (sigh) watching people play the game online to see if I would like it.

I would just go for it and buy it since it’s on -50% discount.

I also generally dislike roguelikes (especially in a tycoon/citybuilder context), but they actually did pull it off and it works very well.

Against the Storm is not perfect, it is fiddly in the first 2-3 hours. Some of the concepts aren’t intuitive. But once you get over the initial learning curve, the game becomes really addictive.

After reading the linked article I ended up deciding not to get it. Steam description is great, article suggests a way more bleak and desperate environment than I want to engage with and randomness in places that would make me very frustrated.

It’s definitely a pretty bleak environment. The randomness is mostly manageable, albeit it way higher than in a typical citybuilder or tycoon goon (it is a roguelike after all).
