I’m a bit perplexed at the amount of men I’ve matched with who are hardcore, Trump-voting Republicans. These guys are fully open to the idea of being in a relationship (not just a hookup) with a trans person, but staunchly support Trump. How does that logic work?

They see us as sexual objects, not real people. Its extremely likely that any marriage between a trans person and a Trump voter would be inherently abusive. In this situation the Trans person would have no access to resources or support, basically the Trans person would be completely powerless and vulnerable (which is why I can see maga parents of trans people forcing their trans kids into marriages with maga supporters).

So I’m a straight cis guy, extreme lefty, my guess would be one of two things that may actually have a lot of intersection:

    1. they hate what they would term “real women” and think they would get along better with someone born with the same genitals as them. Sorry if that’s really crass and offensive but I have met an astonishing number of men that fall into my same sexuality that have spouted logic not dissimilar to that ex “if my Bruce had tits and would let me fuck him id leave my wife”.
    2. they are closeted gay men raised super religious and think a trans woman would be a way to ‘beat the system’ by appearing to be in a heterosexual relationship for their social groups

It probably sounds ridiculous and crazy and I’m sure there’s more violent bigots making lists too so be safe.

I hope this doesn’t come across poorly just relaying the insanity of many conservative/religious men I’ve met

The optimist in me says that they think this way in public, for appearances, but deep down aren’t bothered by it. My realistic side says they fetishize it. My pessimistic side says they are making a list. All the same. Please be safe, it’s never been easy for trans folk, and with all the shitstorm brewing I’m worried for non white cishet men.

I hope you stay safe. I’ve had multiple straight cis men tell me that they don’t care if someone is transgender, and more than a few of them had domestic violence in their criminal records. It’s alarming that it’s happened so many times, so I generally try not to step outside queer spaces when looking for dates now

I’ve been reading for decades that trans people are more likely to be victims of domestic violence, but never thought it would happen to me until it did. I think I have a sixth sense for it now, and these Republican guys always set off the alarm bells.

People who vote for the radical right are often insanely hypocritical and/or ignorant. e.g. visible immigrants, gay men and women, poor people who often even live entirely off of state assistance are all commonly voting like that even though they are going to be discriminated against. And in general, lots of men are extremely misogynistic despite being heterosexual.

I understand that politics in the US is very polarised, but surely most voters don’t blindly support every single thing their party says? There have to be thousands of possible combinations of opinions in a country.

PornHub also shows in their yearly stats that red states search for the things they want to boycott.

The Republican party is the party of “I vote for the nominee.” At the very best, none of Trump and company’s rhetoric was a bridge too far to stop them from voting for him.

I wouldn’t trust a single one of them.

Apologies, I am not trans, but I would assume at least some of them have hostile intentions of some sort.
