The number of new and returning enrollees using healthcare.gov — the federal marketplace that serves 31 states — is well below last year’s as of early December. Also, a Biden administration push to give “Dreamers” access to Obamacare coverage and subsidies is facing court challenges.
There’s a lot of uncertainty in the continuation of ACA benefits. The increases in cost of med insurance have put many over the limit or very close to the limit where they will have to pay Out Of Pocket (oop) for coverage. And should the program be dismantled immediately instead of at the end of 2025… well, there’s going to be a lot of angry cancellations, because anyone on the ACA that is relying on discount is not going to have $1000+ per month lying around for healthcare coverage.
