Back in like 2006, working at a computer repair shop…

A customer had earlier that day picked their computer up after reinstalling Windows due to viruses or whatever. She got it home, and apparently it wouldn’t even boot. So, understandably, she brought it back, along with her husband.

This isn’t exactly uncommon, sometimes the vibrations from the trip in the customer’s vehicle is all it takes to cause the RAM to have a bad connection, not like anyone did anything wrong. Standard procedure is really simple, just open it up and reseat the RAM and other connections, almost always good to go, no charge.

But no, this lady was furious! And was threatening harm to my somewhat sensitive and shy coworker because he was the one that worked on it. I happened to be the manager, so I wasn’t having any of that. It started to bring out my bad attitude in response, worried about my coworker’s safety.

I ended up having to call the boss (it was late in the day and he had already went home). He came in to diffuse the situation, and he ultimately told me to go ahead and go home. He wasn’t mad at me though, he knew what time of day it was.

Anyways, what did it take to fix her computer? Simply to reseat the RAM, just pop it out and put it back in, exactly like we expected.
