Mrs. Renfro’s Mango Habanero salsa. It was fine. Not enough of a departure from whatever we usually get to justify a switch.

    I never liked the salsa at the local Mexican restaurant. It turns out that I have a variation of the OR6A2 gene that makes cilantro taste like “soap.” To me it tastes like a washcloth, or dishwater.

      My partner has that. There are wild fermented beers that (to me) smell and taste like a fungal infection (akin to athlete’s foot) but, to them, smell like Bleu cheese and taste like flowers. Doesn’t come up very often outside of cilantro, but when it does, it’s like two competing realities.
