Consolidation is bad for the industry. It sucks because the acquisition spree of MS especially setting their sights in Japan is what caused this. Sony already owns a minority share of kadokawa, so they wouldn’t need to acquire it if there wasn’t the danger of an MS takeover and dilution of the soulsborne value by dumping them on gamepass day 1. I hate it’s happening but I can see why. PS is the home of soulsborne and it was Japan Studio colabs that set up the entire genre. Leadership at Sony doesn’t want to lose these franchises.
