Hey guys, the new instance feddit.org is online, actually still in the test phase, but everything is running smoothly, while we at feddit.de do not know how things will continue because the admin is not available and the website is down. The future of feddit.de is uncertain. Feddit.org is managed democratically by the non-profit organization fediverse.foundation in Vienna, where the servers are also located. The administration consists of 3 feddit.de people and one from the foundation. You can decide for yourself whether you want to move the community to feddit.org or stay here, but the option is there. Wanna move?

Certainly, is there a way to migrate or we just gotta make a new sublemmy there?

You’ll have to create a new community there, unfortunately. I don’t know of one, but there might be some tool to help migrate stuff between communities.

Think you have to make a new one since the admins of feddit.de aren’t reachable and we need them to migrate the server data.

You can’t move it even with admin access, because it will break it for other instances that expect the old domain.

Theoretically it could be “safe” to manually copy local content made by local users, but I wouldn’t dare to attempt it.

I don’t think it’s possible to migrate instance/community to a new domain yet. This is the reason why fmhy instance died after .ml domain got nuked and I haven’t heard of such feature so far.
