It is my hope that, if I’m patient enough, Lemmy will become a diverse platform where people can share different thoughts and ideas without it quickly devolving into hyperbole and name calling. That probably sounds foolish, but we’ll see.

Yes, that sounds like a nice place. Still I hope comments like yours that are merely divisive attacks will still be downvoted then.

Everything you don’t agree with is divisive, isn’t it? Every single comment that is even slightly pro Trump must be deleted and poster must be banned. The way you can live in happy bubble of the only right opinions…

Do you read your own comments and reflect on them sometimes? Maybe it’s not that black and white?

I wouldn’t even call my comments pro Trump. Just not anti Trump. I don’t really care about the orange man too much to be honest.

Life on an island applies pressure to compromise. Lemmy emerged comprised of those who wanted out specifically not to have to compromise. I think the federation concept will serve to reinforce isolated thought bubbles, and a platform migratory pattern will emerge as people crave a return to society and then an escape to their own private beaches. There’s a maturing period to grow through for sure, though.

There are dozens of us here fighting for this! Dozens!!

Someone accused me the other day of being in my own bubble, and I was like: what?? The fact that I am here, in a place I disagree with over most things, means I am certainlynot in a bubble.
