The Nazis “celebrated” the anniversary of Hitler’s first failed coup 15 years later with the November pogroms.

Hitler was charged with treason after the coup, allowed to publically present his worldview at the trial, sentenced to 5 years in prison and released after 9 months, in exchange for a vow to retire to private life and stay out of politics.

Moral of the story: When fascists try a coup, you should probably stop cuddling them.

In 100 years’ time, it’ll be a common custom to wear red caps, diapers and ear pads on January 6. When asked if they know what that refers to, most Americans will answer that it’s something patriotic to do with George Washington or something.
