First comment removed from asklemmy thread about who’s good/bad re Israel/Palestine is apparently too nuanced and anti-extremist for snowflake dessalines. Ya gotta fuel the hate and extremism if ya wanna comment round tankie parts…

The linux ban was regarding a comment (pretty sure the OG comment was different) about Russian maintainers being removed from the linux project. Obviously you can’t call out capitalist Putin’s authoritarian dictatorship in the communist sub, because ML mods are pro-authoritarian and pro-dictatorship; not anti-capitalist… At this point I’m convinced most “tankies” are just PsyOps operatives.

Well technically the definition of communism is mutually exclusive to authoritarianism, the problem is that the important people self describing as communism have been authoritarians for like a hundred years.

Nobody should get punished for criticizing the state in a real communism because that means the state has more power than the people who should own it.

So the CCP is about as communist as the DPRK is democratic. Same issue with Russia. To them communism is a brandname.

Communism is unavoidably authoritarian probably partly because the whole ideology hinges on “just get the fucking revolution going, figure out the government after”, which is so incredibly easy to exploit.

There’s also the bit where the most minute considerations in favor of the collective vastly outweigh any individual, or group of individuals. And importantly; Becoming an individual, no longer representing the collective in the communist’s eyes, is incredibly easy and quick. You’re mentally exiled in the blink of an eye, just say the wrong thing and you’re suddenly standing on your own. No longer one of the people.

It seems you have to keep your language very broad and almost have to speak in a different tone if you want to keep your status as part of the struggling masses, and not just “a guy”.

Like you really have to sugar coat it and lay it on thick to get the communists to feel like you’ve earned sympathy and serious consideration, where you’re immediately fucked again if you trigger their “No true Scotsman” senses, a fallacy communists seem completely determined to live by.

If you’re just a guy unhappy with their governance, then that’s literally all you are. Your concerns aren’t the people’s, your concerns are unimportant.

Again the definition of Communism is just “public ownership of the means of production”. Anything else added onto the term is just your perception. It actually doesn’t even need any sort of revolution at all.

While things like the “communism manifesto”, commonly referred to as Marxism or Marxist Communism, specifically mention other forms of government and establishment as an enemy to communism, the definition of communism doesn’t change. Same with anti-state communism such as anarcho-communism.

There is just no true scottsman in this case. It has never been done and in some specific examples never will be. If anything, technically, public schools and roads is communism, though. As was the Space Race.
