A couple years ago my mom passed away, and as we were going through her things I ended up with her iPad. I have never used it since I have my own, but today I saw it sitting there and figured I’d see what’s on it. But it’s pass coded. My sibling are trying to help me figure out the code, but so far no luck. Any ideas?

Contact Apple support and explain the situation. You can give them proof of inheritance, if they ask for it. They may still refuse to allow you entry into your mom’s data, for privacy reasons, but in that case they’d allow you to factory reset and use the device.

Great advice. But my sister guessed it. I’d already tried 0000, but it was much more difficult—1234!

Now, what can one use an old outdated iPad for? This thing has OS 9 on it and says it’s up to date. My iPad is using version 16.6!
