I have dogs of my own now but neither of them react at all if you come in looking completely different. Why are mine defective?

They were awesome and oh so cuddly but gave me a good scare the first time I found out. Never met a cat that seemed to care, or maybe I thought it was something else since a cat avoiding people isn’t uncommon.
