I live in Austria, Europe, and I can confirm that I have definitely observed something similar among all my colleagues. Almost nobody drinks alcohol anymore, neither students nor anyone else I know.
I remember having read in the newspaper that Japanese youth apparently doesn’t drink alcohol anymore, to the point that the government decided to put out advertisement for alcohol to increase taxes.
Is this trend only the US? Would be interesting to see how it is in other countries and how it correlates to economic and social indcators
