Lionsgate’s “White Bird,” a sequel to the inspirational film “Wonder” that hit $315 million worldwide for Lionsgate in 2017, opened last weekend in 1,018 theaters and grossed just $1.58 million. By comparison, “Sam and Colby: The Legends of the Paranormal,” an indie film from a pair of ghost hunter YouTubers, outperformed “White Bird” last weekend with $1.77 million from only 300 Cinemark locations.

    Wow.

Maybe if they stop puking the same old garbage on us, we’d want to go to the movies more.

On friday I went to an indie film premiere and there wasn’t an empty seat to be had. It only cost 2 million to make and was one of the best movies I’ve seen in years. I also regularly visit my local community theatre where they play old gems and its always super busy. People are happy to pay for a nice night at the movies. You just need to provide good content.

I don’t think I’ve seen many Lionsgate movies but the production values for their films based on their trailers seem pretty low. I used to use Lionsgate’s name as a punchline when criticizing the quality of a film
