Russia is “fully ready” for a conflict with NATO in the Arctic, the country’s foreign minister warned.
“We see NATO stepping up drills related to possible crises in the Arctic,” Sergey Lavrov said, according to Russian state media, in comments for a documentary series that were first reported Friday.
“Our country is fully ready to defend its interests militarily, politically and from the standpoint of defense technologies," he added.
His comments mark the latest round of saber-rattling by the Kremlin, which has repeatedly… threatened … to … unleash … nuclear … war on NATO and its allies in recent years.
The Arctic is the northernmost point on Earth and includes territory belonging to eight nations: Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Canada, the United States, Iceland and Russia. All except Russia are NATO members.
2014: second strongest army in the world
2022: second strongest army in Ukraine
2024: second strongest army in Russia
…
2026: eighth strongest army in the Arctic (between beluga whales and snow owls)
They weren’t even ready for the war they started themselves
Same bro
Russia, the second most powerful military force within Russian territory, is prepared to take on NATO, the largest military force in the history of the world, in a war in the arctic.
Sir, this is a Wendy’s.
Sounds right, and I’m sure worried. They rolled through Kyiv in 3 days because they’re so prepared!
Don’t forget how perfectly adequately the troops were supplied. Real body armor, real semtex, real reactive armor, well maintained small arms, plenty of food and warm clothes.
I am terrified about the prospects of an artic war with such a well supplied army.
Dont have have much of this if the population is brainewashed and manipulated enough to die by the thousands for zero reasons.
See the west has a preset kill limit.
and they sure have their navy on lockdown, no problems with ships randomly setting on fire or anything like that.
Largest permanent submarine fleet in the world…
New submarines added all the time, even.
Their joint venture with Ukraine is laying down new submarine hulls left and right!
They’re having a hard enough time “fighting NATO” in Ukraine…
And NATO haven’t even turned up yet

tbf, that wasn’t true before the current phase of the Russo-Ukrainian War.
For real, though, from a purely realpolitik perspective, what a fucking disaster this has been for Russia. Fuck them, though. And fuck them even harder than they’re currently getting fucked, until they get the fuck out of Ukraine.
I think we should just keep fucking them until Putin is no longer in power.
They weren’t even ready for a war at Kursk, which they had been warned of, against a country that was already busy getting attacked by Russia.
They weren’t even ready to surprise Ukraine with a war. And they planned it.
Russia is weak and pathetic
yeah its like after completely failing in far milder conditions they are going to just excel in the artic. lol.
russia wasn’t even ready for war when they invaded Ukraine.

Yeah? Nobody asked, silly country.
"We are ready with our malnourished troops, six tanks series of explosions three tanks, and 2 leaky ships and a submarine in dry dock explosion is heard no submarine in dry dock.
Keep in mind the challenges of fighting in the Arctic, for both men and machines. Even a top-tier military is going to struggle and Russia thinks they have a handle on it?!
What does NATO want in the Arctic? Its fucking cold there

This makes the Arctic an incredibly rich area. It is about the same geographic size as the African Continent - about 6% of Earth’s surface area - yet it holds an estimated 22 percent of Earth’s oil and natural gas resource.

A more accessible Arctic will create new opportunities for shorter, potentially more economical, northern maritime trade routes imagined by global leaders for centuries.
Not to mention the strategic use of the Arctic, aka, the reason NORAD is a thing.
Oh, look, similar reasons Ukraine got attacked. Who is russia rescuing now? Is russian ice endangered?
