I am slowly migrating away from Last.fm (which still has one blogging friend who randomly quotes my statistics) to ListenBrainz. Initial import from Last.fm works just well - and after that, I needed to improvise:

• Music player: cmus.
• Scrobbling: cmus-status-scrobbler with both services enabled in the configuration file.

My “status display program” is a small shell script that does not (much) more than call cmus_status_scrobbler.py. Works just well: ListenBrainz, Last.fm. :-)
