The mob vote always felt pointless especially when mojang has the resources to add all three mobs.

It was a way to get people talking about the update. If you argue for your favourite, you’re talking about it. The first one was a point when I think they wanted to show that the game was getting new content.

Why would they do that, they can’t even sell you minecoins on the Java edition

I wonder if sony would allow a company to include a JVM in a ps5 game. It seems like they wouldn’t like it because it would probably be easier to exploit to jailbreak the console

There’s an annual Minecraft event where they announce what’s coming in the next update (among other stuff). In the past, players could vote during the event to choose which of three mobs (animals/creatures) would be added to the game. Now they’ve announced they’re no longer doing that.

Hopefully laziness is. What usually happened is a single mob going through and being implemented a while later, when modders implemented all three in a day or so. Also it being a yearly even instead of being more often. Ultimately mob votes led to 2/3rds of the people being disappointed and some boring mobs winning over interesting ones by slim margins. Also, the implementations of the mobs were really basic, with little to no effort being put into it.

Previously, people could vote for a new mob each year. It was constantly made fun of because either the mobs people could vote for were so tepid they didn’t care or they were all so interesting people were annoyed they couldn’t all be added. Couple this with people claiming that the “worst” option was picked after each vote, and that the mob vote replaced what used to be a yearly “biome vote” (which was like the mob vote, but significantly bigger in scale and much more liked by the community), and the mob vote was never especially popular (though it did help the community feel engaged with the game to a greater degree).

I’m somewhat new to Minecraft because I just started playing regularly with my kids.

In the current version, there is copper everywhere but you can’t do anything with it beside make a copper door, a lightning rod, and a telescope.

You can have a gold axe but not a copper axe???

You can make copper blocks and the various things from that (stairs, slabs) but yeah I wouldn’t mind more uses either

Not gonna lie I always felt like the mob vote hate was a little overdone. Like yeah, it’s a marketing gimmick, that’s how marketing works. Either pick one or don’t.

I’d agree until they made a mob vote that punishes players for not engaging by giving a cape afterwards

I’m really gonna be interrsted what kinda new ideas will they try with this mob vote. Also it’s interesting that they will do smaller feature windows, whatever are they planning I’m in it.

There’s slow updates and theres Minecraft speed and now they decided to go slower than that.

Does that mean Minecraft 2 is finally on the horizon?

It’s probably for the best, but I still don’t know that it was the right choice.

I always liked the idea of every mob having the same mechanic, with the only difference being theme.
