I thought the recent patches were supposed to fix the slow federation, but we’re still not getting comments or vote tallies through for over a week.

lemmy updates did some improvements on the receiving side, parallel sending on the sending side is not yet part of a new release. it’ll also likely take some time for that to be deployed on lemmy.world to have those changes be tested by other production instances first. my activitypub-federation-queue-batcher is currently used by at least 2 other high latency instances and would address the issue at the cost of a small (like 3 bucks or so) vps in Europe and some time investment for the setup.

Double edged sword IMO. It sucked trying to browse all, but I kind of liked the mandatory quarantine for imported BS. It was like a way for Americans to have their little irrelevant and incorrect opinions about what’s happening here that were almost exclusively accessible solely to other Americans. And then we got to have our own discussions without all the US-Defaultism. Of course, lagging behind didn’t fix that, it just meant that we had a safe space to discuss things for a while before their opinions federated in a week or whatever

LW is going to skip 0.19.4 and 0.19.5

Lemmy.ml currently has 0.19.6 beta, so hopefully at some point it gets released and LW updates
