The DVD rental kiosk company was supposed to pay $16.7 million in three installments. After missing the first payment, there’s a court order to pay the whole balance.

Instead, its CEO, Bill Rouhana, proceeded to fire the company’s entire board of directors, including his own wife.

Things must be pretty awkward at their house lmao

Y’all are knocking redbox, and you’re increasingly right for most places, but for many rural areas their internet is still very slow and/or data capped that makes video impossible

You’re absolutely right about rural areas. My dad has satellite internet and it’s so slow. We get ads for satellite internet in our mail all the time. I’ve looked into them and apart from the 1-3 MBPS speeds, there’s always a data cap. If I had their internet, I’d definitely use Redbox more.

Punish them the same way they punished their own customers: charge their credit card and tell them they can now keep the titles they forgot to return.

I remember working at Blockbuster when they pulled that. It was called “No More Late Fees”. No late fees ever, return your video whenever you’d like1!

1 If not returned after two weeks, we assume you wanted to buy it for the current full retail price and charge your credit card on file accordingly.

I remember walking barefoot to Blockbuster from the neighborhood pool to rent N64 games. Good fucking times

I remember when the N64 came out. I was an assistant manager, so when we got a couple of N64 rental units, I commandeered one of them that first day and played the fuck out of Mario and Wave Race.

Ramping off a dolphin in wave race was the moment I realized games could literally never improve or become more realistic. It wasn’t the dumbest thought I’ve ever had, but it ranks pretty high up there.

As the drone giving that news, it was so bad for TV shows. Someone rented Planet Earth which came in a 4 disc set for $100. If you lose 1 disk, we required ordering another full set. Someone lost the entire collection and was required to pay $400. I loved that job, but they made terrible decisions towards the end.

I read the title as Roblox and was going to make a joke about finally knowing Mr. Tallarico’s valuation for his sound.

    His mother’s very proud.

Not a lot of new movies coming out these days and there’s DVDs in there that are years old. Covid was fun times as they had the first Sonic move listed as a new release for almost 2 years.
